Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American singer-actress and former model. She was the main female performer for Apollonia 6 and co-starred in Prince's film Purple Rain from 1984. She was one of several female artists who benefited of Prince's involvement during the 1980s. Patricia Kotero is a Californian actress born in Santa Monica, California in 1959. Her beginnings included working as a television model. The lead female character in Prince's Purple Rain was her first performance that she played in the year 1984. Prince changed the girl's name in this period. She replaced Vanity with the female duo Vanity 6 who performed in the movie as Apollonia 6 replacing Vanity. She made more of an influence on the charts by being Prince's partner on Take Me with You, a duet from the soundtrack. Kotero's association with Prince came to an end when the duo were at odds over the direction she was taking in her career. Apollonia 6, the group that she belonged to had a ended up splitting. She went on to appear in several minor films during the period (reportedly not wanting to be as a character in her Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) before landing in the role of a nighttime television drama Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia released her first album in 1988, however it was an average album of dance music and R&B that failed to attract the attention of the general people. It quickly vanished out of sight. Apollonia was active, even if not under the spotlight, acting in the decade that followed, with a few appearances in films and on television. Even an exercise DVD came out. Apollonia created a bilingual Spanish and English album titled Stay With Me. After that, she attended college and received a filmmaking degree. In addition, she founded her own production firm. Apollonia Kotero wears many hats. She was a model, singer-actress as well as a talent management manager. The year 1984 was the time she was credited for her part as a singer in Purple Rain. She has also appeared on TV shows and films like Black Magic Woman. Kotero debuted her career as a model. She participated in numerous contests. Kotero was first for Miss San Pedro. In her role as an actress, Kotero is a regular on numerous television shows, including CHiPs Fantasy Island Tales of the Gold Monkey Knight Rider Matt Houston and Falcon Crest among others. Apart from Purple Rain, she has acted in a number of films. Her popular films are Back To Back Black Magic Woman La Donna di una Sera and Cattive Ragazze. The American beauty has also been featured in music videos for Ray Parker Jr., Eddie Money and other artists. Kotero is a business entrepreneur also and is the founder of Kotero Entertainment which is a multi-media entertainment company.
